Avengers Assemble on Campus!

Not since the opening of Star Wars Galaxy's Edge was I so excited to check out a new area in the parks.  I'm a big Marvel fan, so when I heard about Avengers Campus opening up over in Disney's California Adventure I couldn't wait.  Sadly a pandemic slowed that idea down for just about everyone.

But we finally got to check out this new area over by Disneyland and I have a lot to say about it.  While not nearly as big as Galaxy's Edge Avengers Campus has some great things to offer.  So sit back and let us give you a tour of Disney's Avengers Campus.
Avengers Campus isn't very big, but they crammed it with locations that evoke the feeling of the movies.  There are areas dedicated to certain heroes like the WEB Institute is obviously Spider-man flavored, while another is clearly mystical and leans towards characters like Dr. Strange and the Scarlet Witch.

Characters, Characters, Characters!

Just like in Disneyland, the Marvel characters can just randomly pop up all over the Avengers Campus.  From showing up on a balcony to just walking around the park, you really will run into a LOT of heroes if you spend time here.

Avengers Campus is considered its own pocket universe so all the MCU characters exist here regardless of their deaths in the movies, so you'll still find Ironman and Black Widow walking around.  Plus they keep very up to date with the Marvel shows and movies, so newer characters like America Chavez and Ms. Marvel are already making appearances.  Just about every MCU hero can be found at one time or another.

There are a few shows here that you have to stop and enjoy.  They are on a schedule, so you have to keep an eye out for when these shows start so you can get there early enough for a good spot.  You can't miss the Spider-man performance, as he webs flips his way over a few buildings.  And the Dr. Strange show is pretty spectacular.  Here are some clips from both.

Great Rides!

I absolutely love both rides in Avengers Campus.  WEB Slingers is a fantastic 3D shooter style ride where your job is to web up the pesky malfunctioning Spider-Bots.  Unfortunately the ride isn't included in Genie+, but we found that the wait for this ride wasn't long later in the day.  My son loved the ride so much that he had to bring one of the remote-controlled Spider-Bots home with us.

The effects on the ride are great and the 3D technology is really well done.  I sometimes feel some motion sickness from 3D rides, but this one was pretty flawless.  Tom Holland's performance in the intro is sweet and fits with his whole MCU Spider-man vibe.
Guardians of the Galaxy Mission:  Breakout is SO MUCH FUN!  I know that it's mostly a reskin of the class Hollywood Tower of Terror ride, but I feel that it's an amazing improvement on the old ride.  Take all the creepy  horror and replace it with a whole lot of Guardians fun!

With different songs from Star Lord's playlist, each elevator gives you great scenes of the Guardians trying to save the day and break out of the Collector's collection.  I'm not a fan of elevator drop style rides, but Guardians is so much fun that its the exception to the rule for me.  The drops are still a little intense of younger riders, but we still convince Niko to go with us every time.

Even Heroes need to Eat!

There are few places to find food while visiting the Avengers Campus.  The biggest and easiest to find is the PYM Test Kitchen.  Home to some scientifically enlarged foods, there are several things worth testing out for yourself.  From GIANT Chicken sandwiches to over-sized Candy Bars the food can definitely satisfy the hungry.  They even have cocktails served in PYM beakers.

There is also Terran Treats located by the Guardians ride.  This is more of a popcorn stand with a few other sweet treat options.
And of course there is a Shawarma Cart located in the center of Avengers Campus.  Like the scene at the end of the first Avengers movie, where the heroes enjoy Shawarma after saving New York.

If you've got an MCU fan, there is plenty to see and enjoy at Avengers Campus.  It's only a part of Disney's California Adventure so you'll still have plenty during your visit to this park.  We had a Marvelous time.  Ask us about planning your own adventure over in Anaheim, California.  When it's time to plan for Disney:
