A Galactic Nightime Spectacular

When trying to do all things Star Wars, Disneyland has its own Fireworks Party dedicated just for the Star Wars fan.  This was an amazing experience with some unique galactic food items.  You get a prime viewing spot for two spectacular shows dedicated to the Star Wars fans.

Was this experience worth the hype and the $89 per person price tag?  That's the real question.  Let me share my experience with you and you can judge for yourself.   Let's take a look at the Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo Nighttime Gathering.

The most important aspect of this exclusive dining experience is the prime viewing spot for the shows.  You get the perfect spot just outside of Docking Bay 7 on the raised area across from the Millennium Falcon.  You can't get a better spot to see the Fire of the Rising Moons, where you get a different perspective on Disneyland's Fireworks show.   The music of Star Wars, with the projections and Fireworks is a great way to experience Disney's Fireworks.

You also get to see the Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga!  Now this was an amazing show!  Disney knows how to use their projection mapping technology to turn the backdrop of Batuu's Spire into scenes from across the Skywalker Saga.
This show still makes me feel all tingly.  Now do you need this spot to see the show?  No, but like with any big show at the parks, if you want a really good spot to see the show you'll probably have to stake out a spot well before the show will start.  You can still get a really good view if you park yourself right below the ledge I was viewing it from.  But you may have to be there at least an hour before to grab that spot.
So what else do you get in this dining package.  When we checked in we were handed our special pin you can only get from this experience and then we got to have a few minutes to get pictures without any wait.

We had to get a few shots with our newly built lightsabers.  This photo spot is almost always occupied with a line of people waiting to get this shot, so it was nice not having to wait.

We also got a chance to peruse the menu and see what was being offered.  Now the menu mostly just exists to let you know what you will be eating.  You also get nonalcoholic beverages for free, but we did have to check out the wine and beer that was on offer at an additional charge.

The bento box of food items was an interesting mix of savory and sweet items.  The Cheeseburger Croquettes are just like they sound, little breaded deep fried cheeseburger balls, with a big mac-esque dipping sauce.  There were some nice meats and cheeses, I thought the little red cubes were beets, but were actually just a variety of red dusted cheese cubes.  There was a soft goat cheese with a bit of honey on it as well as some really interesting balsamic puffs.  Think a savory more solid version of cotton candy, it was a nice compliment to the cheeses, but not something you want to eat by itself, lol.
I'm not a huge fan of chicken salad, but the citrus ginger chicken salad in the little won ton taco wasn't bad.

Dessert wise we had a lovely little coco puff eclair like pasty.  You would definitely enjoy it if you like their coco puff cold brew coffee.  The little blue milk inspired pastry was pretty good as well, it was topped with a little lemon cream disc.

We had to try the cloud topped fruit soda.  I'm not sure what fruit it was supposed to be, but it was VERY sweet, which only got sweeter with the blue cotton candy on top.

There were two wines and two beers to choose from, which were okay.  My friend enjoyed his beer, though he thought Black Squadron Lager would have been a darker beer.  I've never been a big wine or beer drinker.  I prefer cocktails
Shadows of Memory is an amazing show and I completely recommend seeing it during a Disneyland visit!  This was just awesome!
As a lifelong Star Wars fan, I really enjoyed the shows.  But I think if there had been seats and tables this experience might be worth it's cost.  Since we had to stand I was mostly leaning on the border wall throughout most of the show.  Granted we finished up our food pretty quickly to grab the best spot in our viewing area.

I would only recommend the Docking Bay 7 Nighttime Gathering if you want to avoid crowds and having to stake out a spot early.  Regardless we had an amazing experience.  As always we're here to help you figure out what is worth splurging on during your Disney vacations.  Remember, when it's time to plan for Disney:

Thank you for all your helpful information! Currently debating if this would be worth it for our trip in early Sept. With this experience you were able to view two shows is that right? And were they back to back shows or were you just able to access the preferred viewing area for both and they were at different times? It was so helpful to know that you weren't seated during the shows since I assumed that you had your meal while you were able to watch the show.

You eat the meal inside of Docking Bay 7, but it is limited to guests who are doing the Nighttime Gathering.
We were able to watch Shadow of Memory and then had about a half hour gap till the Fireworks (Fire of the Rising Moon.) We did have access to the preferred viewing area the whole time, but didn't want to lose our spots right at the front, so we just hung out there between the shows.
