Back to Oogie Boogie Bash!

We went back to Disneyland's Oogie Boogie Bash this year, and had an AMAZING time.  While these events are sold out this year it is ABSOLUTELY worth looking into for next year!

Quick review:  Oogie Boogie Bash is a limited ticket Halloween event that takes place in California Adventure.  There are a lot of extra special villains, treat trails, and a few other extras that make this a great time.

We literally left the park with roughly 20 pounds of candy between the 4 of us, thankful we planned for a way to bring it back home with us. LOL.  So follow along with us as we share our adventure at this years OOGIE BOOGIE BASH!
Rather than fight the crowds right at 4 for entry into the Party, we relaxed a bit longer and went in closer to 5:30, and made our way back to Pixar Pier.   Upon entry we were given our empty treat bags, wrist bands, and our party map.  Niko wanted to get a Memory Refresher, which is a cute ICEE style drink themed after Inside Out inside of Bing Bong's shop.   Which put us right next to Cid's treat trail location.

Treat trails are lines you walk through with many cast members handing out candy, the big ones feature a villain from your favorite Disney films.

While you don't get hugs and pictures with the characters, you do get to talk to them and interact with them.  These performers are pretty top notch.  Cid did not disappoint.  He perfectly portrayed the little psycho from the first Toy Story film.

My plans were working out really well.  We figured the lines for the villains closer to the main entrance would be loaded with people, so starting in the back end of the park was perfect.  We were the first guests in line for Cid.

We made our way around to see Yokai, the villain of Big Hero 6 over in San Fransokyo.  Went down to see Madam Mim, but just missed her as she went on break as we were walking in to the trail, no worries we caught her later that night.  I was pleasantly surprised to find two VERY rare villains doing meet and greets.  Prince John from Robin Hood AND none other than Hans from Frozen.
We later ran across the Sheriff of Nottingham in the same spot.

Of course the new Villains at Oogie Boogie have the biggest lines, so we waited for a bit to see Dr. Doofensmirtz from Fineas and Ferb.  My son was a big fan of that show, so we had to see him.

He ended up having his back to us for most of our walk-through which disappointed Niko, but we came through a second time during the last parade and there was pretty much no line.  So it was very easy to see him and a few other characters.

Having hit most of the characters we stopped pretty close to the first parade time so we took a break and waited for the parade.

This is just a piece of the parade but we got to see a lot of characters.  There's the Headless Horseman, Mickey and Friends float, Nightmare Before Christmas, and of course the Villains.
We were right by Oogie Boogie and Ernesto de la Cruz so popped by their trails and made our way to see the big bad himself, Hades!

There were only a couple of villains to catch that we had missed but during our last visit we didn't get to go into the Villian's Grove before  the kids were tuckered out.  So we had to make it there this time.  The whole  Redwood Creek Challenge area is transformed into a spooky walk-through feature, with music and lighting inspired by many of Disney's classic Villains.
We finally got to see Madam Mim (Sword in the Stone) and then walked through Avengers Campus to go see Agatha Harkness from WandaVision and her own series that just started.

There were a few other special characters that we didn't want to miss, as you can rarely find them in the parks.  Niko desperately wanted to see Mickey and Donald in their outfits from the Kingdom Hearts games!  But since we were getting tired Zoey and I went to go find some of the rare Pixar characters across the Pier.  We saw Lotso and Ember, we just missed Wade by a few seconds.

We finished off the night over at Carsland.  Riding Radiator Springs Racers at night, which we never get to do, was a real treat.  We almost always ride it first thing in the morning.  Carsland is just great with all the neon normally but add in all the Halloween decor and it's just phenomenal.  Of course Lightning McQueen, Mater, and even Cruz Ramirez were there in their costumes.  We even ran across the firetruck who's name I can never recall.

We saw so many characters during our party time, here's a ton of our photos of most of them.
We had an exhausting night, but boy was it a lot of fun.  My favorite part was just seeing all the people dressed as their favorite characters.  I saw several people dressed up as Perry the Platypus, some characters from Gravity Falls, and even a few Owl House characters.  The kids opted for comfort rather than elaborate costumes this time.

You definitely want to plan ahead for those September and October trips if you want to go for an Oogie Boogie party.  Let us know how we can help you make it happen.  We are always happy to get those vacation plans just perfect for you.
