Dem Beignets tho..

Mickey beignets are elusive yet famous. They aren't found in the parks. If you've got a hankering for fried doughy goodness, head to Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory at Port Orleans French Quarter resort. If you're already staying onsite, you're in luck because Sassagoula is located right near check-in.

This quick service restaurant is a cult favorite and accepts dining plan credits. The theme is Mardi Gras, NOLA of course. ​

We visited for breakfast and went straight for the beignets, although there were multiple breakfast platters available. We ordered our beignets with their signature chickory chocolate coffee ganache. It was thick and delicious and a fantastic compliment to the beignet--even for Gaby who doesn't like coffee!

Though we didn't stay for lunch, the restaurant is known for having create your own pasta, jambalaya, burgers etc. The restaurant also has a snack area to grab prepackaged goodies and treats. If you're on one of the Disney Dining Plans, you can refill your resort mug at the Coke Freestyle machines here. 

Let's be honest though, it's the beignets that bring the mice to the yard. Not to mention the yummy other pastries available in the case. 

​Since they only count as snack credits, how can you say no? It's a value for both your meal credits and your belly. By the way, the pictures don't really show how LARGE these beignets are. We got 3 and had to split them between the two of us with a soda and a coffee for a filling breakfast.

And if breakfast isn't your thing? We got beignets for miles... even seasonal treats. Not only do they offer beignet sundaes but while we were there we saw the elusive and predictably delicious pumpkin spice beignet.

As if that wasn't foodgasm inducing enough.. they offer it as a pumpkin spice sundae. So imagine, warm crispy pumpkin spice beignet with cool creamy vanilla ice-cream, whipped cream and sprinkles.

Okay, stop drooling and go get yourself some!!
