Star Wars and Desserts, Yes Please!

You may have heard about Dessert Parties at Disney.  They are great way to see the finale light show and eat some sweets.  They cordon off an area just for Dessert Party attendees with free space ahead of you, so no one will block your view of the show.

Over at Hollywood Studios, you can book a Star Wars Dessert Party, and for a Star Wars fan like me, it was AMAZING!  After a long day or walking the parks and exploring Galaxy's Edge, it was really nice to sit down for a while.  You get to enjoy some nice drinks, sweet treats, and meet some of Star Wars finest characters.

These are things you don't want to miss!

You have to check-in for you reservation ahead of time over at the Star Wars Launch Bay.  When the party starts you are escorted to your reserved area in the Launch Bay.  If you haven't been in the Launch Bay before, it is filled with all sorts of Star Wars Memorabilia.

It's filled with display cases with items from all over the Star Wars saga.  You can see helmets from different eras.  Light Sabers of a wide variety of characters.  Models of some of you favorite star ships.  Plus you can meet with Darth Vader, Chewbacca, and BB8.

You don't need a reservation to check this place out, but if you do come for the dessert party you have exclusive access to a large part of it.
Before heading to my assigned table I had to make a quick stop at the bar.  They had a few mixed drinks ready and available.  They also had a few beers and wines on hand.  The Galactic Punch had a nice kick, though I preferred the Cosmic Citrus Twist.

There was so much food to enjoy.  There was a charcuterie table of meats and cheeses, but my sweet tooth got the better of me.  There were so many little tarts and Domes.  Many tasty little treats to satisfy any flavor pallette.  There was also a made order hazelnut chocolate dessert.  They would create the dessert right in front of you with liquid nitrogen.  It was delicious, like a Nutella ice cream!  Try the Blue Milk Panacotta!  It is way tastier than the beverage at Galaxy's Edge.

During the dessert party, Storm Troopers are wandering around the buffet table and walking over and interacting with guests.  They were looking for rebel sympathizers.  Making sure that the guests had all sworn allegiance to the First Order.

While they don't specifically stop for photos, they do oblige you if they see you are posing for a picture with them.  You get a lot more interaction with them here than when they are wandering around in Galaxy's Edge.

It was hilarious watching them bug guests and stalk around the buffet tables.  It's exactly what I would imagine real Storm Troopers would do, minus the shooting of rebels.
The lines for the character meets here aren't very long, but during the dessert party you really don't have to wait at all.  We waited less than 5 minutes to meet each character.  Darth Vader was intimidating as always.  He interrogated us about rebel spies, Angie tried to throw me under the bus as a rebel spy.

It was heart warming to meet Chewie.  The big guy made all matter of sounds we had to interpret.  His handler did try to translate a bit for us.  He commented on my shirt and asked how we were doing.  BB8 mostly just chirped and beeped from his pedestal.  It was still pretty cool to meet the droid.

Before heading off to see the Star Wars Galactic Spectacular to end our night I grabbed a bottle of water from the drink table.  As we were walked to our reserved location we were handed our Star Wars gift, a Darth Vader drinking mug.  The gift can vary from season to season.

We had a great time watching the finale for our last night at Disney World.  It's a wonderful way to finish an evening at Hollywood Studios.  For $89 an adult and $53 per child, it is pricey but worth doing at least once if you are passing through Holllywood Studios.
