A Pirate's Drink For Me!

Beak and Barrel is Disney's heavily themed Pirate Bar located in Magic Kingdom.  Reservations were a nightmare to get when they first opened but now that things have calmed down is this bar worth all the hype?

Arrrre you ready?  Here's our experience at The Beak and Barrel.

Located right next to Pirates of The Caribbean, you can find The Beak and Barrel.  It took us a minute to locate at night, but the signage is pretty well lit.

Once we were able to get in, the pirate decor did not disappoint.  It really did feel like I was having a drink inside the ride.  It was like Oga's Cantina had a baby with the Pirate's ride.  If you've ever had drinks at Trader Sam's or Oga's Cantina you have a pretty good idea what to expect.

I will note that sometimes having the right server can make all the difference.  Our server was a very energetic pirate who corrected me when I didn't pronounce all the R's in my MaRRRgarita order.
I expected a little more from the menu, with only 2 non-alcoholic drinks and 7 cocktails I had hoped for a little more.  Like most of the Bar style locations in Disney, there isn't much in the way of food.

We did try some of the provisions, which were just an assortment of chips and dips.  We also had the Corn Griddle Cake loaded with roasted corn and peppers.  This was REALLY good and cheesy!

Zoey wasn't feeling the drink options so I was drinking alone.  The MaRRRgarita was just that, a margarita, not the best I've had but far from the worst.  And I had to have the Souvenir cup since it looks really cool, pictures do not do it justice, it looks much better in person.

Like any good enchanted or cursed drinking establishment we're really here for the ambience and entertainment.  Rummy the parrot would make regular appearances to share stories or warn us of incoming dangers.  We experienced a storm and an encounter with sirens.  Rummy was definitely the highlight of the experience.
Rummy's energy was a little infectious, I couldn't help but clap back every time he said "Drink up me harties!" with my own energetic "Yo Ho!"
There were a lot of charming and "magical" details all around The Beak and Barrel.  Is it a bar that I would frequent?  I would say it would depend on my mood.  I wouldn't visit it every time I went to Magic Kingdom but every now and again might not be bad. Maybe skip it if it's your first time ever visiting Disney World, but it's a nice new extra for those of us repeat visitors.

As always Mouse O'Clock is here to help you sort out all of those Disney details.  We check it all out and give you that firsthand experience that lets you know we know what we're talking about!  Reach out to plan your next Disney adventure.  When it's time to plan for Disney:
