Cabins aboard Disney Cruise Line are above average in size. I was surprised how small rooms can be on some other cruise lines and while I can't say that all the rooms are huge, that bit of extra room is more than welcome. Most rooms sleep 4 with a queen sized bed and two twin beds. One of them folds out of the couch and the other drops down from the ceiling above the couch. Disney ships do have wifi, though you will only be able to use it for the app for free. Thankfully the app does allow you to connect and message with anyone else on the ship. You can pay for upgraded wifi if you need to have a stronger connection.
The drink of the day tends to run about $6-$8 dollars, but the cup gives you roughly a 3rd more than the standard drink. They are usually classic cocktails like Mai Tais and Rum Runners. Angie always gets the coffee card so that her 6th coffee is free. She saves them for future cruises in case she doesn't end up having that many coffees. Price wise they are about what you'd spend getting coffee at Starbucks. Almost all of the food on this ship is free. And there are plenty of options if you don't want to wait for the fine dining options for dinner. Cabanas is the buffet that is open for breakfast and lunch on the Magic, Wonder, Dream and Fantasy. On the Wish and her newer sister ships you'll find it's called Marceline Market. Outside located on the same deck as the pool you'll find a variety of choices for quick eats. Pizza, BBQ, Burgers, Chicken Strips... Even salads and sandwiches... though you'll only find Shawarma on the Magic! These grab and go options are free and included.
Most of the ships have a character meal or two that includes performances by some of the characters. The Dream and the Fantasy are currently the only ones without a character meal, but I think Disney will probably fix that during the next dry dock repairs/rennovations.
Angie can never get enough of the unlimited Soft-Serve Ice Cream up near the pool. They always have chocolate and vanilla, but the rotate in other flavors like Blueberry, Strawberry, Mango, and Banana. The larger ships have a Signature Ice Cream and Sweets Shop, but those are a separate charge. There is also free and included 24 hour room service in case you don't want to leave your room. The only exception for room service is food that is pre-packaged foods like potato chips and cans of soda. Anything from the kitchen is free, including Mickey Bars and the "Cake Slice of the Day."
Each ship has a theater where you can see some amazing Broadway quality performances. Each ship has it's own sets of Shows. Of coarse there are lots of character meet and greets each day on the ship. You just have to look out for them in your Disney Cruise App to find who will be where and when. We've never waited more than 20 minutes to meet any character on a Disney cruise. And you'll have MANY chances to meet with characters while on the ship.
Disney Cruises in the Caribbean always have a Pirate Night Celebration that will usually include a Pirate Celebration Show. Lots of people take this opportunity to get dressed up in some Pirate regalia. Disney is also the only cruise line to offer Fireworks at Sea. The Fireworks are essentially made with fish food to be safe for the marine life.
One of my absolute favorite things about Disney Cruise Lines has to be their private islands!

This was all on the Disney Magic, so somethings will be different from ship to ship. I have heard the lounges are really nice on the newer ships.
Since we had time to kill till our room was ready we went to check out the Concierge Lounge.
Not to mention the Open Bar from 5pm to 10pm. The staff would mix you up almost any drink from behind the bar. I had an amazing Key Lime Martini one night. The larger ships have their own sun decks with hot tubs and the Wish and Treasure even have their own wading pool. Here's a quick video tour of the lounge.
We even had 2 Stateroom attendants, so we never lack for anything in our room!

Goofy's Sport Deck is also quite a bit larger, including mini golf and Virtual Sports simulators.
Sadly, as of right now, the Dream class ships do not have any big character dinners. But I imagine within the next couple of years they will be added during dry dock updates. Now it's hard to compare the Dream to it's sister, the Fantasy, as they are nearly identical. A lot of time the deciding factor between which of these you'll choose will be their dates and itineraries. Many of the differences are just in aesthetic or theming.
Their signature Ice cream shops do differ a bit in theming with Vanellope's Sweets and Treats on the Dream and Sweet on You located on the Fantasy.
We could spend all day talking about our time on these great ships.

I will say that the layout of the island is a little awkward. Not only is there a long walk from the ship, but also a tram ride to get to the majority of what the island has to offer. It's easily a 10 minute walk from the ship over to the island. Thankfully they offer little wagons to haul your small children along. Then you have to hop on the tram to take you to the main area of the island. The trams are large and come very quickly, so you won't have to wait long. But this beach is DEFINITELY worth the long trek.
By far the most popular location for the kiddos was the play and splash area. With a few waterslides and lots of water, it certainly looks like a lot of fun! And of course a Disney island would not be complete without it's own Kid's Club. Sebastian's Cove is run by the same counselors from the Oceaneers Club aboard the ship. Great for dropping off the kids ages 3-10.

The water is always BEAUTIFUL and crystal clear. Of course temperature will vary depending on the time of the year... If you're looking to do more than just lounge about the beach there are lots of options. You could rent a bike to go around the island, there's also a 5k walking trail, there's a fishing excursion, rent an aqua bike (also paddle-boats and inner-tubes, go snorkeling, go parasailing, or even pet stingrays on their Stingray adventure. (Rentals and Excursions at additional Cost). You could always go shopping or get your hair braided too!
Fun fact: Most of the island is designated a nature preserve that Disney takes care of. And of course there are opportunities to interact with classic Disney characters. Got to get those photos!
Now, what good would an adult beach be if you have your kids with you on vacation? Well Disney provides a Kid's Club on the island as well.
Enjoy a lovely slideshow of our various times on Castaway!
It's Mouse O'Clock!I'll leave you with one more soothing video of Castaway Cay...
Even though these ships are over 20 years old, Disney does an impeccable job of keeping them fresh and interesting. Let's break down this Magic Class for you...
Oceaneer ClubThere are some substantial differences in the kids club from ship to ship. They're all a lot of fun, but each one has it's own themes. Both have a special "kids only" hallway that connects the Oceaneer's Club to the Oceaneer's Lab. Dining
Over on the Magic we get Rapunzel's Royal Table. You get to celebrate Rapunzel's Birthday with the Ruffians, as they sing their song. Later Rapunzel and Flynn Rider show up and add to the entertainment. The Floating lanterns add a fun bit of decor to the the dining hall. The Ruffians have a great time going table from table and messing with the guests. There's even a desert served in a frying pan! SO CUTE! Plus the Bread Basket was this amazing Sun. Back on the Disney Wonder we get a dedicated Lounge area just outside of Tiana's Place dedicated to the Streets of Louisiana. It has some devilish flair of the Shadow man, Dr. Facilier.
All of Disney's ships have a special statue in the Atrium as well a separate theme of decor. The Magic has Sailor Mickey and the Wonder has Ariel, the Little Mermaid.

You won't miss out on holiday decorations here! Disney loads their atrium with tons of fun festive decor. From the Giant Gingerbread House to the massive Christmas tree, it's had to ignore Christmas walking through here.
Meeting your favorite Disney characters on a cruise is easy. We've rarely waited more than 10 minutes to take photos with characters. Now you get them also dressed up in their best Christmas attire. So stinking cute.
The Holiday magic even carries over to Disney's private island: Castaway Cay. You still get all that festive decor in the Bahamas. And what Christmas voyage would be complete without a visit from that jolly old elf himself. Yes Santa does make appearances during the cruise for pictures and a few special events. Mrs. Claus isn't left out either, she reads stories to the kids and has her own photo op as well. AND OF COURSE! Anna and Elsa showed up to drop some snow on the Atrium! WOW!
The Halloween decor was phenomenal. The pumpkin tree was clearly the centerpiece here. All along the atrium you could find pumpkins and decorations reminding you this was definitely Halloween!
Zoey even participated in a Halloween scavenger hunt with the tween club, Edge. She had to get selfies with as many characters as possible! Of course the adults and kids were all able to dress up for Halloween. I never turn down a chance to wear my relaxed Loki costume. We went for comfy costumes this trip, so Angie sported her Maleficent dress and ears this time around. We just love these Hocus Pocus outfits! There was a spooky spider desert on the menu tonight, but you know the kids wanted to save room for all the candy. Up on deck there was trick or treating to do! The kids easily loaded up their little bags with candy while I grabbed as a spot for Mickey's Mouse-querade Party. Their costumes were so cute, I just loved Dale's Poison Candy Apple costume!
There's never a wrong time to go on a Disney Cruise, so why not enjoy Halloween on the High Seas. This was a super fun adventure and we highly recommend it for any Big Halloween fans like us. Here's a quick slideshow of some of the other images from Halloween. Want to go on your own magical Disney vacation? Let Mouse O'Clock help find put together that perfect vacation for you. We'll do all the work and you get to have all the fun. When it's time to plan for Disney it's Mouse O'Clock!
This ship is GORGEOUS! Loaded with so many beautiful spaces I would have a hard time picking my favorites. The Wish is Disney's biggest ship yet and I have heard some people complain about it only having two elevator bays, but we honestly did not have a hard time navigating our way around the ship. The only issue with the elevators were the buttons. The elevator buttons were designed so you don't have to touch them, just hover your fingers near them. Unfortunately this did cause many buttons to light up when someone squeezed in and got too close to the panel.
If you've sailed with Disney before there will definitely be new experiences for you. There was a lot to do on this voyage. The Wish is currently only sailing 3 and 4 day cruises, so it can be tight to get everything done on one trip. It's a lot more manageable on the 4 day voyage. The Star Wars HyperSpace Lounge was a delight. We had some killer cocktails while jumping around the Galaxy. I had some fun identifying many of the ships that sailed by as we sipped our drinks. Unfortunately spots in the Hyperspace Lounge are by reservation only, so it can be hard to get a spot sometimes.
Disney doesn't disappoint with the food either. We always expect great cuisine when on board when cruising with Disney. There are even new dining venues like Enchante and Palo's Steakhouse. Our cruise was the first to bring back hugs and autographs, so I finally got my long awaited hug from Goofy. As always there are plenty of opportunities to meet with Disney characters. As you can see we finally got our picture with Moana. Niko and I got to have some great moments with both Ant-man and Spider-man! And I never say no to meeting with my favorite wookie.
There's even a slide down into the kids club!!!

And what Pirate Night wouldn't be complete without Fireworks at Sea.
